Tony Stark took over as CEO after his father's passing in 1992 at the age of 17 , which he continued to work alongside the United States government in speical missions and selling weapons. The turning point came in 2008 when Tony Stark was kidnapped by the Ten Rings terrorist organization and escaped by revolutionizing the Arc Reactor, making it smaller and just as powerful as his father's creation. After this event, Tony Stark decided the company would stop producing weapons after discovering his weapons in the hands of the Ten Rings. Tony would also go on to further develop his armor he used to escape captivity by creating new models such as the Mark III , while also re-inauguarting the Stark Expo.

Despite scrutiny by the critics, Tony Stark appointed Pepper Potts as leader and CEO of Stark Industries. In 2012, Potts opened a new base in New York City, building Stark Tower, later becoming Avengers tower , which was powered by a new Arc Reactor. In 2014 after the downfall of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the hiring of Maria Hill, Stark Industries made privatized security a part of it services. In 2016, Potts presented Stark Industries' latest advances is intellicrops while also appointing their head of security, Happy Hogan, to move equipment out of the Avengers towers to the new Avengers compound in Upstate New York. In 2024, controversy fell over Stark Industries as Mysterio used Stark Indusrties Combat Drones, Tony Stark's E.D.I.T.H. glasses (augmented reality secrutiy, defense and artificial tactical intelligence system), and the Stark Industries Satellite to stage an attack, resulting in the United States Department of Damage Control raiding Stark Industries Headquarters for investigation.
